It’s a bit of a jigsaw puzzle with six different blocks picked, fermented and matured separately and then blended. From the first sniff it is obvious all the pieces fitted together perfectly. Aromas of cashew and creamy melon with a ripe nectarine and peachy character evident. The palate offers stacks of fruit intensity, harnessed with a mix of French and Austrian hogsheads. A savoury minerally finish completes an excellent wine. Points: 95/100

Another very clever Yarra Chardonnay under this label, with Anthony Fikkers wines ridiculously good for the dollars. I’m a huge fan. I also like the new labels, although picking out which wine is bloody hard work. As ever, this a delicate wine. Green apples, creamy layers, refinement. It looks less ripe than 13% but beautiful too, with cool grapefruit acidity. I’ve been critical in some years of this wine being too lean, and this is still a lightish sort of wine, but gee, this ’23 is a lovely creamed appley beauty to it that feels refreshing and lovely. All that refined clever Chardonnay for $35? A winner for me. Points: 93/100

Yellow peach, winter melon and Bosch pear. Mandarin peel and frangipani. Candied cashews, sesame and lemon balm. Steep acidity that falls in line with its creamy mouthfeel and orchard fruit frame. Not overworked but naturally fresh and juicy. A subtle hint of tutti fruity tropical notes too. This sits comfortable in its price point, with nicely timed ripe fruit and gently oak influence. Drink now with a good cheese toastie. Points: 91/100
