Aroma

Cocoa dust, brown butter and cassis undertones.

Palate

Toasted hazelnuts, dark chocolate and orange peel memories.

Vinification

Small open fermentation batches, hand plunged 3 times daily. Gentle pressing, french oak. Maturation for 24 months in oak.

Winemakers Comments

A collection of iconic wines to the Alkoomi family. These wines are made from the oldest plantings on the property as early as 1971. Each parcel of fruit is individually crafted, tasted and blended. Named after the ancient Eucalyptus trees growing throughout the poperty and only made in exceptional years, these wines are crafted for cellaring and entice the taste buds of wine enthusiastis.

    Deep dark colour with a bright purple edge; the bouquet confirms the freshness of this wine, with attractive cassis, raspberry and sweet cedary oak aromas, and just a light background of tobacco and briar, the palate full bodied and nicely balanced with appropriate tannins and a long, harmonious carry. A classy wine, and eerily quite Bordelaise.  Points: 95/100
