Tasting Notes
Aroma
A concentrated nose featuring notes of dark fruit coulis (blackcurrant, blackberryĶ) that mingle with toasted notes due to barrel ageing.
Appearance
Ruby red in colour.
Palate
Round and rich on the palate with silky tannins that indicate that this is a good wine for laying down.
Vinification
The grapes are handpicked and collected in 25kg crates. No sulphites are used during vinification. The grapes are sorted on a vibrating table and transferred to tanks. Some of the grapes are not destemmed (30 to 40% depending on the vintage). Fermentation lasts 3 to 4 weeks with very little intervention(only gentle pump-over). After pressing, the press juice is filtered. The free-run and press juices are blended.
Cellaring Potential
Open 3 years after bottling or cellar for up to 10 years or more.
