Tasting Notes
Aroma
Boysenberry, blackberry and cherry fruits, laced
with cocoa, clove and pepper spice.
Maturation
French oak age 20% new, 80% 1-3 years. 14 months.
Palate
Intense blue and black fruits dominate the
palate, heightened by the growing presence of lifted
florals and black pepper spice. Chewy tannins, subtle oak
and fine acidity achieve amazing length and balance.
Vinification
The Shiraz was harvested in April post Easter and fermented in open static fermenters, plunged by hand twice a day
for lovely colour and tannin extraction. Some whole bunch provides lifted aromatics and spice.
Vintage Notes
2022 was a dry low cropping year, resulting in small bunches with loads of intensity.
Region Notes
Fallen Giants is a family owned winery established in 1969 in Halls Gap in the Grampians region of
Western Victoria. We farm using organic principles and the estate has been certified organic since
2021.
In 2021 Fallen Giants was the recipient of the most important trophy in wine, the Jimmy Waston
Trophy for Best Young Red Wine.
The Serra Range is the most significant mountain Range in the Grampians, towering over our
vineyard protecting us from the harsh weather from the south and west.
