There's a deeper straw in the glass here, no doubt due to the full mlf on lees in oak that this wine receives. It sports an enchanting aromatic make-up. Green and red apples, Bickford's lime cordial, pressed wildflowers, stone, marzipan, soft spice and some distant glimpses of calvados and apple pie. Some lovely lemon-pith texture on the palate and great tension and savoury swagger. It's a super-interesting style and very good indeed. Points: 94/100

Light yellow colour leads into a rubbery reductive bouquet that is quite layered and interesting, if not strictly your normal Aussie riesling. Query a touch of barrel. The palate has weight, richness and texture. A different style of riesling with a lot going for it. The barrel ageing takes it into an area few Australian rieslings venture. Points: 92/100

New label (I think). Interesting wine in many ways. Left in old oak on lees for a year and goes through malolactic fermentation. All good things, though you’d have to know what you were getting in to beforehand if you were expecting a crisp ‘traditional’ Eden Valley Riesling. Honey, brine, a fino sherry sort of thing here, mint, cinnamon and apple. It’s tangy and tastes kind of golden (synesthetes may get that), a chalky mouth-feel, weighty flavour, brown lime, pie apple with a salty pastry, a quinine-like bitterness in tow, and a fleshy finish of good length. It’s a strange bird, but it’s a good wine. Points: 93/100
