Henschke Tappa Pass Shiraz 2022

The brilliant burst of colour is the first indication that this is something special. The nose doesn’t disappoint. Highly perfumed with floral plum and cherry notes and a little light chocolate. Graceful lines on the palate, which is expressive and powerful, though the influence of Eden Valley adds a lightness of touch. Only 10% new French oak and the rest seasoned, but that little oak influence brings a delightful lift to the palate. Outstanding wine. Points: 97/100

Fruit-driven aromas of blueberries, blackberries, mulberries, red currants, baking spices, cedar and smoked paprika. The palate is full-bodied with silky tannins, a silky texture and a densely packed mid palate that is seamlessly integrated and refined. There is a wonderfully mineral edge to the firm yet generous finish. Will age nicely. Drink or hold. Screw cap. Points: 94/100
