Tasting Notes

Aroma

Ripe melon, sweet stone fruit and florals.

Maturation

French Oak for 4 Months

Appearance

Straw yellow with green hues.

Palate

White peach and melon with crisp acidity. Notes of brioche and a creamy finish.

Vinification

Following harvest, the juice was pressed off skins then cool fermented in stainless steel. The wine was then racked off gross lees to keep the style clean and crisp. To add complexity, 20% of the blend was barrelled down for maturation in new French oak barriques for 4 months.

Cellaring Potential

Lost Weekend is a fresh and vibrant which will reward short to medium term cellaring.

Limestone Coast Selections

Vintage Notes

2024 was a cooler than average growing season with a dry lead up to harvest. Low yields and an extended ripening period resulted in bright, fruitful wines.

Food Matching

Crumbed fish tacos with homemade slaw and lime mayo.

Winemakers Comments

Cool Climate fruit sourcing ensures the wines have generous amounts of natural acidity, an underlying theme of freshness and varietal character, and importantly, a high level of sophistication and a sense of place. Wines that reflect both the grape variety as well as the vineyards and sub-districts they’re grown in.

Region Notes

The cool climate growing conditions of the Limestone Coast (located in the South-East corner of South Australia), make it the perfect fruit source for our Limestone Coast Selections.

Some yellow plum, peach fuzz and cantaloupe. A hint of ripe-lemon skin and buttered toast. Acidity rings high and adds some rise and fall between succulence and base pasty oak tones. Very giving and full of life and flavour for its pricepoint. This is satisfying and well balanced. Points: 90/100

Sourced from vineyards scattered across the Limestone Coast region, fermentation was in stainless steel, while 20% spent four months maturing in new French oak barriques. Straw in colour, the nose gives us notes of dried herbs, stone fruits, apricots and melon. A pleasing texture, this is still youthful. It is of medium length with rather bright acidity, and provides fresh drinking. A wine which is delightfully attractive and excellent value, it should continue to impress for at least the next three years. Points: 91/100

A very decent little Chardonnay here and punching way above its recommended price point. A bit of insider info to its winemaking explains a lot: 20% of this wine spent 4 months in new French oak barriques, partly to add some complexity but also to “season” the barrels before being filled with top-shelf Cabernet. In terms of styling, the wine sits more in the citrus camp than rich and riper stone fruit – think grapefruit over white nectarine in flavour terms, with some oak spice and tightness in the palate. You could pour this in places where the fancy folks would usually tut-tut over wines at this price. You’re welcome!  Points: 92/100
