Tasting Notes

Aroma

Lime and lemon with some floral apple blossom.

Appearance

Pale yellow, with a tinge of green.

Palate

Wonderful purity of flavour, with classic Watervale lime / citrus notes, and bright natural acidity. Zesty and lively with a long, persistent and textured finish.

Vinification

Fruit for this wine is sourced from the Watervale sub region of the Clare Valley, probably the most iconic locations for growing this variety in Australia. The warm days, long sunshine hours and cold nights provide ideal growing conditions for this variety, After harvest, the Riesling fruit is fermented to dry in temperature controlled stainless steel vessels with limited skin contact (two hours) to make a clean and vibrant style. This method also accentuates the varietal and regional characteristics in the form of bright citrus flavours and fresh mineral acidity. The result is classic Watervale Riesling which drinks beautifully in its youth but will also reward cellaring for many years to come.

A riesling hailing from the renowned Clare Valley terroir of Watervale. Light straw with a green flash. Aromas of freshly squeezed lime and green apple with hints of citrus blossom, lemon drops, makrut lime, lemongrass, a scattering of dried herbs, fennel gratin and almond paste. Ditto on the palate, which shows a chalky focus and some nice concentration as it coils and sails away, minerally and long. Points: 91/100
