Tasting Notes

Aroma

Fragrant and lifted aromatics of orchard fruits including pear and apple blossom with hints of lemon and lime.

Appearance

Pale straw with green and lemon hues.

Palate

Fresh, crisp and clean palate with citrus flavours all nicely integrated with richer white peach and spice.

Vinification

Sourced from the Wrattonbully sub-region of the Limestone Coast. This unique region situated in the Naracoorte Ranges is renowned for rich terra rossa soils and rolling hills that produce natural acidity and clean, focused varietal flavours – our Rules of Engagement. Following harvest in the cool of the night, the grapes were then destemmed and gently pressed. The juice was cold settled for two days before racking. The clarified juice was fermented and stored in stainless steel for 4 months to retain the inherent bright fruit characteristics.

Food Matching

Home-made spaghetti carbonara - extra pancetta.

Granny Smith apples, nashi pear and lime pith. Shaved fennel and a touch of lemongrass. A tad more weighty and fleshy on the palate, which the nose anticipates with a good push from zesty acidity. A pretty detailed wine at the pricepoint and one that could be consumed alone or with a poached chicken and herb salad. A lively wine. Points: 90/100

The fruit here is sourced from Wrattonbully, part of the Limestone Coast. The team’s intention is to get this in the hands of the drinking public as soon as possible, so it spends just four months in stainless steel before bottling. This enables them to highlight the freshness and fruit flavours. Lemon straw in colour, the nose offers notes of citrus, spices and green apples, with a minerally backing. A touch of pink grapefruit is evident, but the pears and apples are to the fore. Bright acidity runs the length and the freshness makes this a thoroughly enjoyable example, for easy drinking of the variety. Now for the next three years. Points: 90/100
