Ktima Matsa is an historic vineyard established in 1878, just 15km from the centre of Athens. Originally producing Cognac, then Retsina from the early 20th century, today the region yields mostly white table wines, from Malagousia, Savatiano and Assyrtiko. “Laoutari”, the Venetian Lion, is the emblem of Ktima Matsa. Today as historically, it is the guardian of the vineyards and a symbol of history and heritage. Roxane Matsa farms the 35 year-old vines organically in the dry, Mediterranean climes, and is best known for malagousia. The local wine-growers have nicknamed Roxane “The lady of Malagousia.”
