Tasting Notes
Aroma
Glazed orange, pear, and lemon blossom notes are complemented by hints of brioche and chai spice.
Maturation
100% French Oak, 38% New. 15 months in barrel.
Palate
Gala apple, pineapple, and crème brûlée flavors are followed by a rich, concentrated, and vibrant texture. Juicy acidity drives a long and lingering finish.
Vinification
Sourced from Kelli Ann estate vineyard, in the heart of the Russian River Valley. There are approximately 90 acres planted, with the oldest vines planted in 1989 on AXR rootstock. Soils are gravelly, sandy loam.
Vintage Notes
The Russian River Valley had a mixed and somewhat challenging growing season in 2022. Winter was relatively dry with limited rainfall. February was unseasonably sunny and warm, prompting for early budbreak leaving vines susceptible to early season frost. By August and September, record heat arrived, accelerating ripening and harvest. The chardonnay yields were a little depressed in the Russian River Valley, but we are seeing great concentration and flavor in the wines as a result. Our Kelli Ann Vineyard chardonnay harvest began on September 3rd .
