Aroma

Intense red berries, roast cherry tomatoes, floral hints.

Appearance

Medium colour.

Palate

A fleshy, spicy mid-palate with gentle savoury tannins.

Vinification

Each vineyard is picked at its optimum, and fermented and matured separately; all in aged French oak. When blending: we ruthlessly cull any barrel that doesn’t come up to scratch, then play with the individual components to craft a wine with youthful appeal and approachability.

Cellaring Potential

Will develop leathery complexity and depth over 5-10 years in bottle.

Winemakers Comments

Temp deserves a reputation as something of a ‘sook’! Famed for early and quick ripening, it will drop leaves if challenged by heat & drought—even in the cool Hills. It appreciates modest but frequent watering in dry seasons.

This sits in a zone somewhere around nouveau styles, bright and fresh, slurpy in texture, soft in tannin. Cherry cola, sweet spice, light herbal detail, a little pepper, some gingery notes and a bit of blood orange. Ticks lots of boxes for the variety. A thought bubble emerges about the more diffuse nature of the wine, but freshness does sit on its side and easy pleasure is here. Points: 92/100
