Tasting Notes

Aroma

The slow and late vintage at Lark Hill produces an intense and aromatic Riesling with vibrant lime, green apple and mineral notes underscored by zesty acidity.

Palate

Our delicious dry Rieslings evolve beautifullly over the years, retaining freshness and balance.

Winemakers Comments

In the winery, we seek to translate the balance and vibrance of the fruit to the wines - using minimal intervention winemaking techniques to ensure that the wine reflects the geology, climate and location of our vineyard, in a true preservation of terroir.

Region Notes

The Riesling vines were our first plantings in 1978, high on the Lake George escarpment, 30km from Canberra , and 43 rewarding vintages have amply demonstrated the match of this great variety to our site.

Lemon aspen, winter melon and candied lime zest. A touch of green apple curls and elderflower. A tingling line of fresh acidity is punctured with some lemon and nectarine sweetness, with some raw oats and almond shell adding layers of delicate spice and creaminess. This is flavour-town from start to finish with a smack of dryness on the finish, it’s beautifully weighted and with a couple of years bottle age has settled well into its character. Ginger jellies and quince paste too. Drink now or will reward with another 5-10 years in your cellar. For now some miso butter scallop roasted in the half shell will do nicely. Points: 95/100
