Fruit is from the certified biodynamic Dark Horse Vineyard in Murrumbateman. 4% Viognier co-picked and co-fermented with Shiraz, matured in French oak puncheons for 12 months. Vibrant ruby hues this is very fresh in the glass. Raspberries, wild strawberries and Morello cherries. Its Viognier inclusion adds a vitality without the obvious orchard fruit tones, some rhubarb and sumac spice. There is a pep of white pepper and brown earth spice, with slinky tannins and juicy acidity. This shows its cool climate site but with some real sinewy flavour that stays for days. Cured meats and maple leaf, it’s a wine that ticks all the boxes wrapped in fine handmade wrapping paper. An indicator that a lot of thought and love went into its make up. A steal at the price. Drink now or will evolve for another 3-4 years further. A perfect wine for lamb loin, olives and tomato confit. Points: 95/100
