On the nose we see notes of white nougat, lemon curd, roasted cashews and the suggestion of a hint of gun flint.
Maturation
Fermented in a mix of French oak puncheons (20% new with a large percentage of one and two year) together with some older barriques for a total maturation period of 10 months, followed by time in tank after blending.
Palate
The palate is generous and comforting, with a supple, almond meal flavour carrying front to back but equally a kafir lime leaf like flavour on the finish is attest to nature of acid and oak sitting in perfect harmony. Persistent, voluminous and the right level of richness, ensure past lovers of the KBS style will find familiarity here.
Vintage Notes
The 2022 season was influenced by unsettled weather the previous spring resulting in smaller crops. Mild weather and slightly above average rainfall best describes the growing season, but a very dry February ensured that fruit ripened evenly, and the grapes were in great condition for harvest.
