A fleshy, soft, easy-drinking style of grenache that veers into jammier territory but manages to include good uplifting spice, floral characters, crisp tannins and a vibrant blood orange finish. This is good drinking too – it’s a just-bottled and exuberant McLaren Vale Grenache. Notably, this includes some whole bunches and whole berries, which give spice and juiciness. It’s a pure and straightforward wine of purple berries, red and purple gummy berries and sandy tannins, perhaps a bit too simple, lightish and not profound, but very drinkable, and those tannins?
