Aged in larger oak barrels. This works well. It has grip and minerality, bright red berry fruitiness, peppery spice notes, a bit of ferrous earthiness and sits at just on medium weight. It feels like sangiovese from the dictionary should – leans into its more refreshing side and delivers on that promise for those seeking vibrant reds. Easy to like. Points: 92/100

Mt Lofty Ranges fruit for this wine. This feels like it’s still fermenting, especially with the palate juiciness. Indeed, this was released after just a few months in old oak and it’s an exuberantly fruity red too. For all its simplicity, this is genuine fun: sweet, brambly berry fruit, vibrant, a little whole-berry juiciness, and then genuine sandy tannins. It’s very young but authentic, a nouveau style with fizzy acidity. Points: 91/100
