This is so powerful and lifted, with aromas of plum compote, raspberry coulis, violets, mulberries and cassia bark. The palate is full-bodied with finely integrated tannins and a creamy, viscous mouthfeel. Flavors of blackberries, baking spices, dark chocolate and coffee beans. Blockbuster in style, with some underlying freshness. Drink or hold. Screw cap. Points: 93/100

Deep, dark and inky in the glass. Heady aromas of plum conserve, sweet spice, clove-like oak, dried herbs, briar and earth. The flavours are full bore, rich and opulent. There’s a drive of dark fruits, spice, licorice, iodine and sweet oak, teaming pretty well with punchy acidity and textured, shapely tannins. Big, brazen, full flavoured and has lovely purity and poise. Points: 93/100
