Tasting Notes

Aroma

The nose bursts with red fruit—wild strawberry, raspberry, and juicy cherry—lifted by delicate floral notes of violet and a subtle hint of spice.

Appearance

Bright ruby in the glass, this wine is fresh, vibrant, and expressive from the first pour.

Palate

On the palate, it’s silky and energetic, with soft tannins, a touch of earthiness, and a crisp mineral edge thanks to the granite-rich soils of the vineyard. Whole-bunch fermentation adds a layer of complexity, bringing in whispers of pepper, dried herbs, and forest floor. The 10-day maceration brings depth without weight, making this wine both flavourful and refreshingly drinkable.

Vinification

The process begins in the vineyard, where all grapes are hand-picked with care—allowing for gentle handling and selective harvesting of only the ripest bunches. Once at the winery, the fruit is sorted and left intact for whole-bunch fermentation, a traditional method in Beaujolais that brings out the wine’s floral aromatics, spice, and subtle earthiness. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve the purity of fruit and maintain freshness. A 10-day maceration allows for gentle extraction of color, tannin, and character from the skins and stems, building a wine with both structure and vibrancy.

Food Matching

This wine pairs perfectly with charcuterie and cheese platters, grilled or roasted vegetables, with Asian inspired dishes or with barbecue and light meats.

Whether wine lovers have been forced to look to Beaujolais thanks to the stratospheric prices achieved in neighbouring Burgundy, or whether it is because the locals have got their act together in recent years and are now producing the sort of wines that are really impressing, it hardly matters. Perhaps a touch of both, but certainly a fair bit of the latter. Beaujolais Villages is not top of the tree but that allows this to sit very much amongst the value buys around at the moment. An earthy maroon colour, the nose gives us notes of florals, cherries, wild raspberries and an array of red fruits. Very much an attractive if slightly earthy drinking style, chilling it young would not go astray. There is a touch of grip and a surprisingly long finish. Well crafted, this is ideal summer drinking for those who want a good red without too much heaviness. Enjoy it over the next three to four years. Points: 92/100

This is clean, well-structured and well-fruited. In fact it has just a little bit of presence about it. It tastes of dark cherries and earth, undergrowth, aromatic herbs and something rusty and mineral. It’s good. It’s not overly bright but it’s satisfying. It feels polished. It feels well framed. A flirtatious, gently mid-weighted red that is effusive of fruit, giddy of energy and dangerously easy to drink, its prosaic nature a virtue rather than a bane. Riffs on crushed red berries, lilac, a hint of musk and forestry undertones, conferring a welcome savouriness. Yet it is the chord of freshness and supple tannins that guide good length without anything hard or untoward, that attest to a winning versatility at the table. ‘Thrills with a chill ‘sort of gear, matching many a Bourgogne Rouge in the stakes of poise and mellifluous drinkability. From the granite-rich soils of Beaujolais comes this dancy and delightful wine that will be sure to please a legion of fans. A riot of red petals and violets skips from the glass building an impressive aromatic profile. Peppered steak makes an early statement with strawberries, cherry pips, black tea, puffs of earth and dried herbs flow throughout. Whole bunch fermentation has added complexity through the palate with a minerally presence that speaks of the soils from which it was born. A fine sprinkle of pepper lingers on a lengthy and moreish finish with silty tannins having the last word. It’s a very tidy and agile drink that would eat up a diverse range of dishes. Sweetly ripe and inviting, the bouquet shows ripe cherry, raspberry, game, thyme, and floral aromas, followed by a juicy palate that’s silky and supple. It’s harmonious and balanced with grainy tannins, finishing sturdy and finely dry. At its best: now to 2028. Points: 92/100

An AOC Beaujolais Villages designation, harvested from Domaine de la Longere. Earthy, foresty with a heart and soul honest styling - easy drinking Gamay, crimson fruited in a raspberryish zone, with a delicate touch to its palate structure. Immensely drinkable across all occasions. Points: 92/100

An appealing Beaujolais made from 100% gamay. Vibrant ruby colour with aromas of strawberry, raspberry and a touch of cherry ripe. The palate is smooth and seamless, medium weight, with a slightly earthy character adding complexity. Finishes long with pleasing chalky acidity. Cellar: 5 years. Points: 93/100
