tropical notes carry through to the palate, finishing fresh and
lingering.
Vinification
The fruit for this wine was sourced from two different family
vineyards, both located in Carbunup in the north of Margaret River.
The first is the Alberts Block Semillon, which was one of the original
plantings and typically experiences cooler conditions, with a waterway
stretching below the block. The other vineyard is slightly further north
at the Carbunup Vineyard, where vibrant canopy growth and healthy
vines help preserve freshness and flavour until harvest. The fruit was
picked during the cool of the night, ensuring vibrant acidity and
excellent fruit condition. The fruit was gently pressed to avoid overextraction
of textural phenolics and maintain fruit purity. Following
clarification, a cool, controlled eight-day fermentation was carried out
using an aromatic yeast strain. The lees were then stirred to maintain
freshness, texture and vibrancy of the fruit.
Vintage Notes
Following a wet winter, budburst began in late September to early
October, with excellent soil moisture supporting healthy canopy
growth. Favourable flowering conditions resulted in balanced crops
and good fruit set. Warm, dry weather, combined with cooler periods
and timely rainfall, created ideal ripening conditions, while careful
canopy management-maintained vine health and minimised disease
pressure. Even veraison and a warm, dry finish allowed the fruit to
ripen consistently without heat stress. Warm days and cool nights
enhanced flavour, balance and colour, particularly in the red varieties.
Abundant marri blossom kept bird pressure to a minimum,
contributing to one of the best vintages on record.
