Tasting Notes

Aroma

The bouquet is characterised by floral notes, apple and almond.

Appearance

Pale straw in colour.

Palate

The palate is one of vibrancy and crisp acidity on a quite saline, minerally base. Totally moreish.

Vinification

The grapes are pressed and settled at cold temperatures. Fermentation lasts for between 15 and 25 days in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged on its lees and racked twice before being bottled in the Alzipratu cellars between 5 to 8 months following the harvest

Region Notes

The Alzipratu vineyards are planted primarily to traditional Corsican varieties, and lie at the foothills of Monte Grossu (the peak of which is 1950 m.a.s.l.); and just a few minutes from the coast. As a result, the vines benefit from sharply contrasting climatic influences due to their proximity to both the sea and the mountains.

Dried apple, lemon peel, kind of nutty/almond meal, brine, with a mint and honey chamomile perfume. It’s glossy and viscous, quite saline and savoury, bitter almond, with a little apple cider tang, powdery texture, and salty bruised apple finish of good length. Good texture, and plenty of interest. It may well not be for everyone, though I like it. Points: 90/100
