Tasting Notes
Aroma
The aroma is laden with red and black fruits with a hint of violet, characteristic tar, gun flint and a whiff of roasted coffee.
Palate
Deep and concentrated, the palate flows effortlessly with its layers of fruit and fine, savoury-edged tannin.
Vinification
Hand harvesting commenced on the 19th of February and proceeded until the 28th February. Our five individual blocks and their various sections were handled separately in the winery and vintage 2019 created 15 unique batches of wine. The grapes were fermented in traditional open fermenters after gentle destemming, with 70% of all batches receiving whole bunches. The wines were then pressed and transferred into 500L French Oak puncheons (20% new) for malolactic fermentation – some aged in traditional 6250L cuves. Racked twice during maturation, bottled February 2020.
Cellaring Potential
Cellared carefully, this wine will age gracefully for 10 years.

The 2019 vintage in Heathcote has produced wines of intense concentration and power. A warm and dry spring led into a classic Heathcote summer, warm days and cool nights.
