Marcus Ellis
From '65, '95 and '17 estate vines, mostly on sandy soils over limestone; minimal whole bunch, and maturation half in steel and half in older oak. This is bright-fruited in the modern mode, yet never strays into confection, the red-fruited core accented in a savoury way, though never dulled or lacking in vigour. Red berries, macerated strawberries, cranberries, white pepper, raspberry leaf tea and rosehip. Medium weight with a pleasing weave of natural tannin and acidity lively of feel. This is another fine, and keen value, release. Points: 93/100
