Luigi Einaudi, purchased the property in Dogliani in 1897, later becoming Governor of Banca d’Italia and President of the Republic of Italy. 4th generation Matteo Sardagna continues the work from Dogliani, top sub-region for Dolcetto. Einaudi’s Dogliani dolcetto focuses on the variety’s vibrancy of colour, fruit and fine grape tannins. Matteo has spent 20 years focused on producing the best possible wines, investing in unique egg-like cement tanks, and reverting to large oak botti for all Cru Barolos. Matteo has invested in some of Barolo’s top MGAs (Crus) including Cannubi, Bussia, Monvigliero and Villero, adding to their Terlo Costa Grimaldi.
