The name Poliziano pays homage to 15th century poet Angelo Ambrogini from Montepulciano, nicknamed ‘Poliziano’. 2021 marks the 60th anniversary of Dino Carletti’s purchase of 22 hectares of vineyards. Under the stewardship of Federico Carletti since 1980, the estate today totals 240 hectares, of which 130 are dedicated to sangiovese. In 2019 Federico was joined by son Francesco, contemporaneously with the launch of their revived Chianti Colli Senesi, from a newly acquired and dedicated vineyard in Montefollonica. A recent re-incarnation of one of Federico’s first single site wines from 1988, Le Caggiolo, is 100% Sangiovese, and marks Poliziano’s return to the use of large oak botti for ageing.
