Tasting Notes

Aroma

Detailed and balanced with wafts of dark brambly fruits and black plum. Notes of savoury spice and old leather.

Maturation

18 months.

Appearance

Deep, rich red with garnet core.

Palate

Beautifully dark and complex, with fine tannin and an elegant finish.

Vinification

Majority of the blend remained on skins for 12 days, but a small portion was treated to an extended maceration of 28 days to ensure tannin and colour extraction to support long-term cellaring. Following fermentation, the blend was barreled down to predominantly old French Barriques and Hogshead barrels (10% new oak) for 18 months maturation.

Cellaring Potential

12 years.

Vintage Notes

Picking occured in the middle of April following an idyllic cool and dry ripening season, which resulted in fruit with strong colours, flavours and complexity.

Winemakers Comments

Coonawarra cabernet sauvignon from the Parker Estate 'Abbey' vineyard. No shortage of lush blackberry and blackcurrant fruits on display backed up by hints of brown spice, violets, licorice, crème de cassis, tobacco and lighter undergrowth tones. Sweetly fruited with clove and cinnamon spices, characteristic focused acidity and some fine, powdery tannin support. Points: 91/100

Attractively ripe and fragrant with blackcurrant, sweet cherry, olive and toasted almond notes, it's finely textured and beautifully weighted in the mouth displaying succulent fruit flavours with fine polished tannins. Harmonious and classically styled with a prolonged structured finish. At its best: now to 2029. Points: 92/100
