2021 was a superb vintage characterised by a healthy Spring rainfall and perfect even but warm ripening conditions through to Autumn. Interestingly, the vintage was characterised by ripe fruit at very low sugar concentrations. subsequently the wine is a relatively low 12.8% alc.

Region Notes

The Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon are grown on the Tumblong vineyard in Gundagai. The Tempranillo and Malbec are grown on the Moppitty vineyard in Young. The Tumblong vineyard is located just south of Gundagai town perched above the Murrumbidgee River. The vines were planted in the early 90's and are also grown on deep oxidised iron stone granite soils.

If Nick Spencer had been born at a different time he would have been known as a master blender. The seamlessness of this wine is quite remarkable. There’s a lift of bunchy greenness to the mouth-watering core of boysenberry and black cherry, with a complex, smoked, dark choc note threaded within. This is a ‘painted in watercolours’ wine but it’s not dilute; it’s medium weight. For sheer even-handed deliciousness this has it all sorted but there’s more to it than that. Points: 93/100
