Shadowfax, in my mind, is one of the gun producers of proper pinot gris. This settles into that concept nicely. Slick texture, on medium weight, a course of slatey minerality under pear nectar, cumquat sweet-sour tang, peachy fruitiness, sugared almond, bright lime notes and a dash of chamomile tea. Very even and well balanced, refreshing at the same time as showing some concentration and depth. Perfumed too. Spot on. Points: 93/100
There’s texture, a core of excellent fruit and so much in store with this refreshing pinot gris. Full of spiced pears, nashi pear, honeydew melon and ginger fluff cake. Plenty of texture thanks to the creamed-honey lees flavour. Light acidity rounds it out very nicely indeed. Points: 95/100
