Tasting Notes

Aroma

On the nose explosive, elegant, charming and immediate. Aromas of prunes, red and black ripe cherry, blackberry, rose petals and tobacco.

Maturation

The wine has been aged for about 30 months in large oak casks and, a small amount, also in barriques; after this all parcels are carefully blended before bottling. It was bottled without filtration.

Appearance

Medium-intense ruby red colour.

Palate

On the palate it is classic, quite rich and powerful, with notes of alpine herbs and leather on its finish. The tannins are very well-integrated in the fruit structure of the wine.

Medium ruby with faint brick and purple reflections; the bouquet is very savoury with clean leather and fresh-turned earth aromas, dried flowers and dried herbs, remarkably complex and deep. The wine is full-bodied and rich on the palate with intense savoury flavours and ample but smooth tannins that are in excellent harmony. Full finish and impressive length. A superb and quite powerful wine that over-delivers as an entry-level Barolo. There is an extra degree of richeness rare in Barolo at this level. Great value. Points: 96/100

Plenty of wild-berry character to the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with good fruit focus and firm tannin that will need a year or two to soften. Bright and youthful. Give it time. Best from 2024. Points: 92/100
