At the end of the 1800s, Carlo Vietti established the Vietti winery, at the highest point of the village of Castiglione Falletto in the heart of the Langhe, with his son Mario taking the reins in 1917 after many years living in the USA. Mario was succeeded by Luciana and husband Alfredo Currado whose numerous achievements included intertwining wine with art and culture, bottling one of the first single MGA Barolo wines in 1961, and making the first varietal arneis from Roero in 1967. Son Luca with his wife Elena carried on this vision, culture and passion until 2023, working with the Krause Family who had purchased Vietti in 2016. Vietti remain one of the few estates in Barolo to own vineyard in all eleven Comunes, and in recent years have invested in Roncaglie and Rabajá in Barbaresco and in Derthona for Timorasso. Today, each Vietti wine remains the result of artisanal work and the profound understanding and interpretation of each individual terroir.
