Tasting Notes

Palate

From the 2019 vintage, this is a wine of great delicacy and finesse. A fine, dry aperitif style, the extended time on lees imparts wonderful complexity and texture. Pure, with incredible line and length, the wine has a poised, lingering finish.

Vinification

Hand picked on 22 February from Block 4. This block's soil profile is sandy clay loam with iron shot stone and light medium clay. This wine is made following the Traditional Method. Whole bunch pressed, only the cuve used (512.5L/t). Primary fermentation in stainless steel before bottling and secondary fermentation in bottle for four years on lees. Assemblage: 45% 2019 pinot noir, 40% 2019 chardonnay, 15% reserve wine (2018 vintage 7.5% chardonnay, 7.5% pinot noir). Disgorged: Spring 2023. Dosage: 4.0g/L. Alc 12.5%

Vintage Notes

The 2019 vintage was fast and furious, characterised by a very warm summer. The wines are quite fine, detailed with intricate acid structures ensuring their longevity.

A blend of pinot noir 45%, chardonnay 40%, with 15% reserve wine off the ’18 vintage, and, all up, four years on lees. A pale-gold hue; lemon blossom and nougat, super zesty with mandarin and limes, and while the palate is tight-laced with racy acidity, there’s complexity too, with autolytic flavours and a hint of aldehydes. Points: 95/100
