Aromas of red fruits - strawberry, raspberry, red currant, coupled
with a floral and spicy note.
Appearance
A bright crimson.
Palate
The palate has layers of fine grained and silky tannins. It is intense
and full, with layers of flavour and texture leading to a long, linger
ing finish
Vinification
MV6 (40%), G5V15 (40%), Abel (12%), 667 (5%) D4V2 (3%) from
blocks 1, 2 5 and 3. The fruit was handpicked between 14 – 20
March, with each parcel handled separately in the winery. Hand
sorted and carefully de-stemmed, the whole berries were then
transferred to oak fermentation vats for natural fermentation.
A small portion (10-20%) of whole bunches were used in 2023.
Once fermentation was complete, the wines were transferred
to French 500L oak barrels for maturation, 25% of which were
new. The wines were left undisturbed until estate bottling in late
January 2024.
Cellaring Potential
Cellar for at least five years, and preferably more than 10.
Vintage Notes
The 2023 season brought ‘La Nina’ weather conditions for the
third year in a row - a cool and late ripening vintage with low yields
and superb quality. The 2023 Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Pinot
Noir is an expression of purity and balance. Select parcels were
chosen for their concentration and layers of sily tannins.
