David Sly
Rich and slinky on palate, this exhibits twin personalities – a crisp, clean opening with a bright citrus fruitiness before descending into a savoury mid-palate that slowly blooms. It’s hardly surprising, as the winemaker has treated three fruit parcels separately, applying cooler and warmer ferments to components that each go to different types of oak barrels. Its lean body weight avoids tropical notes from interfering with the keen focus on a sensual textural interplay that should become even more keen after time in bottle. Points: 92/100
