If there is one thing that this wine is not, it is the proverbial shrinking violet. This is a full flavoured, muscular, standing to attention, rich and enjoyable Shiraz. Based on organic methods and sustainable winemaking, the colour here is maroon/purple. On the nose we have aromas of chocolate, animal skins, dried herbs, plums, roast meats and kirsch. A powerful and full style, this is a wine of medium length and should provide pleasure for the next four to six years. An ideal choice for your next BBQ with friends. Points: 91/100

A cracking barbecue wine, the cheeky throwaway line on the back label, "not your dad's Shiraz", rings true. Made from certified organic vines in McLaren Vale, this is juicy and vibrant. It's a wine that will take a chill and that element is precisely what elevates its approachability. The fruit skips about joyously. Think blueberries and blueberry jam, squishy mulberries, ripe raspberries and shimmers of earthiness with a rattle of fine spices. A little dark chocolate taps away in the background but there is no mistaking the energy and synchronicity this exudes. Sure, it's a polished, commercial style, but this will be lauded and find a lot of friends. Great stuff and a smart example of a summer red. Points: 91/100
